Marla D. Mellies was a senior executive across the energy, technology, consulting services, and healthcare industries prior to her retirement. She has led organizations through significant transitions, including public to private ownership, mergers and acquisitions, global expansion, and two initial public offerings (IPOs). In addition to her director experience on nonprofit boards for Hopelink and Puget Sound Energy Foundation, Marla worked directly with corporate boards in her executive roles. She has extensive experience in succession planning, CEO transitions, and director recruitment.

Most recently, Marla served as Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Puget Sound Energy, where she led a corporate shared services organization that included human resources, supply chain management, facilities, safety, security, emergency planning/business continuity, and fleet services. She previously held positions as General Manager of Human Resources for Microsoft Corporation’s Server and Tools Business and Vice President Human Resources at Lante Corporation, a technology startup in Chicago, and at 3Com Corporation. Marla earned her Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Bradley University and a Master of Arts degree in labor and industrial relations from the University of Illinois.

After an exhaustive search of the Washington coast, Marla and her husband moved to Anacortes in 2021 and thoroughly love the community. When not traveling, she enjoys hiking, pickleball (when she can keep off the injured list), and volunteering at Anacortes Family Center. Marla is honored to join the Island Health Foundation board, helping to support accessible and quality healthcare for the residents of Fidalgo Island.
